If you are looking for a holiday with a difference then do consider Montenegro.  It is a tiny, but perfectly formed country, situated just below Croatia in the Adriatic.  Byron the poet famously named it the jewel of the Mediterranean.

So whether you are visiting Montenegro with a view to purchasing your own property or going for a holiday, why not stay in a typical Montenegrin waterside fisherman’s cottage in a lovely little bay on the Boka Kotorska Fjord?  This is the southern most fjord in Europe and is spectacularly beautiful!

The cottage is a charming waterfront property in a delightful hamlet in the bay of Lepetane.  It is located on the south side of the Virige Straits, separating the mouth of the Fjord and the bays of Herceg Novi and Tivat, from the bays of Risan and Kotor. It is a charming, but simple 200 year old cottage with two foot thick walls of old stone and typical of the area. It was probably once a fisherman’s cottage and is front line to the water with just a small paved road separating the cottage from the stone walled water front. The Boka Kotorska Fjord is the largest in Southern Europe and encapsulates five beautiful bays each uniquely different. It is stated to be one of the 25 most beautiful bays in the world.

The cottage is a two storey cottage set back from the road and fronted by a large terrace. Downstairs the large front door leads into the open plan living area, combining comfortable seating with great sea view, an inside eating area and a modern, functional kitchen equipped for feeding six people.

The house has light wooden flooring throughout and the atmosphere is very much of that of a beach house.

The unique aspect of the house is its large terrace overlooking the water. It has built in seating and in the summer months becomes an extension of the house, perfect for outdoor dining, barbeques and sunbathing. There is an outside loo, on the terrace, saving the bother of drying off before coming into the house.

Upstairs there are two good sized, air conditioned, bedrooms. There is a twin bedroom at the rear of the house with hanging wardrobe, chest of drawers and chair. The front bedroom is a double and has hanging wardrobe and chair and dressing table. This bedroom has its own balcony, overlooking the terrace and water. Perfect for those leisurely breakfasts!

The bathroom is large and completely modernised and has a full sized shower, loo, sink and bidet. It is tiled and has a washing machine installed, so no need to overpack! Linen and bath towels are supplied as is a hairdryer. Please bring your own beach towels.
